The Accelerated 12-week EMT-Paramedic Program at McCook Community College provides training and education to develop EMT-Paramedics capable of providing emergency care to patients in and out of a hospital setting. The emerging roles and responsibilities of the EMT-Paramedic can also include public education, health promotion, and involvement in injury and illness prevention programs, and participation as an initial treatment provider.

  • All training follows the Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum and instructional guidelines.
  • Upon completion of the in-class work, students are required to complete the training in a clinical/field environment.
  • Upon successful completion of training the student is eligible to sit for the National Registry Paramedic Exam. Prerequisites
  • The student must be able to prove through valid credentials that they have completed an EMT-Basic program prior to admission.
  • The student must be 18 years of age prior to National Registry testing.
  • Once admitted into the MCC Accelerated EMT-Paramedic program, a criminal background check will be conducted by a certified agency.
