Art teachers exhibit kicks off Wrightstone’s fall schedule

McCook Community College Art Instructor Rick Johnson has announced the fall schedule for exhibitions in the Wrightstone Fine Art Gallery on campus.

Now through Oct. 1, the gallery is featuring works from the Nebraska Art Teacher’s Association (NATA). This year’s theme is “Connections By Design.” The group’s conference will be held in McCook Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

This exhibition is open to all current and retired art educators who live or work in Nebraska. Art Education students who are members of a NATA student chapter are also eligible to submit work. NATA encourages all art educators who teach or have taught at K-12 public, private and home schools, faculty from colleges and universities, and educators from museums.

An opening reception is set for Friday. The awards ceremony is Oct. 1 from 3-4 p.m., when the exhibition closes.

In October, Johnson is bringing “Focus On Art Elements,” an exhibition on loan from the Museum of Nebraska Art. That exhibit will be up Oct. 3-Oct. 28

In November, “Compare And Contrast” comes to the Wrightstone – another traveling exhibit on loan from the Nebraska Museum of Nebraska Art. It runs Nov. 1-Dec. 9.

The Wrightstone Gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  Monday through Friday and until 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.
