Homebuilders Association awards scholarships to MPCC students

 

The North Platte Home Builders Association presented three students with scholarships Friday during opening ceremonies of the Home Sweet Home Show at the Quality Inn and Suites.

Pictured left to right they are: Dalton Littell, of Maywood, Dillon Thompson, of North Platte, David Nutt, of Curtis, and Home Builders Association President Josh Powell. Littell and Nutt are Mid-Plains Community College students. Thompson is a North Platte High School student planning to attend MPCC after graduation.

Each student received a scholarship valued at $600. Jenn Kleewein, executive officer for the Home Builders Association, said the money was raised from admission to previous Home Shows.

It was made available to students enrolled in the building construction, electrical and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HAVCR) programs at MPCC.

The North Platte Home Builders Association, is a local, non-profit organization made up of professionals in the building industry.

Heather produces and distributes press releases for the college. She began work at MPCC in 2014. Prior to that, she spent five years as the news director/web manager for Eagle Radio in North Platte. From 2009-2014 she worked as a reporter/photographer for The North Platte Telegraph. Heather has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Chadron State College.
