Purple aliens 'invade' McCook Community College at storytime

Central Plains Library System and Western Library system helped bring aliens to McCook Community College recently as part of the Space Adventures presented to youngsters in the MCC Child Development Center.

These youngsters, who normally make a weekly trip to the library for story time, learned all about the solar system through an interactive teddy bear workshop – like Build-A-Bear, except the youngsters do all the stuffing and instead of a bear they stuffed a purple space creature.

During the MCC workshop, MCC's favorite reader and storyteller – Miss Doreen (Parsons) read Dr. Seuss's "There's No Place Like Space." Children were introduced to some of the characters and then brought their own 15-inch plus alien to life by hand-stuffing it, wishing and a star and naming it with a birth certificate.
