Classic Car Raffle 2013
We have a winner, folks!
1972 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport Clone
This Year’s Classic Car was built by the students and staff at:
North Platte Community College
This year’s car is powered by a naturally aspirated (carbureted) 454 Big Block Chevy engine, bolted to a TH 400 Turbo Automatic Transmission and coupled to a 355 Posi-trac rear-end. Special features include vintage air conditioning, power steering, power disc/drum brakes and air ride suspension.
The hot rod’s exterior sports a vinyl top and Rhino Liner box protection wrapped up in “Hugger Orange” basecoat/clearcoat paint by PPG. Pin-striping, decals and graphics by Dave Smith add the perfect finishing touch.
The college uses the restoration project in a number of ways. First, the college offers a certificate in automotive restoration so the students in that discipline have a project to work on. Second, the college uses the car to attract attention to the college, its programs and especially at its transportation related training. Each year the car tours the state with entries in car shows, parades and cruise night events.
