Tuition Cost
Tuition & Fees
Tuition, fee, and refund rates are set by the Mid-Plains Board of Governors. They are generally set to cover tuition and fee charges from July 1 through June 30 of each year. Rates are subject to change without notice. The rates for the 2012-2013 school year are as follows:
For Credit Classes:
In-State Tuition – $77.00/credit hour
Border-State Tution – $77.00/credit hour
for residents of Colorado, Kansas, South Dakota & Wyoming
Out-of-State Tuition – $100.00/credit hour
Fees are assessed for all courses whether online, distance learning, or in-person. Fees equal $15 per credit hour and are defined as:
General Fee - $8.00/credit hour
Student Activities Fee - $2.00/credit hour
Facilities Fee - $5.00/credit hour
Course Fee * – Varies per Class/Program
Senior Citizen Tuition Rates:
Mid-Plains Community College Board Policy allows a reduced tuition rate for students who have reached their 62nd birthday at the time they register for classes. Qualifying Senior Citizens will be charged 35% of the current tuition rate. All applicable fees will still apply. This discount will not apply to non-credit classes or situations where a third party is responsible for the payment of the tuition or fees.
Tuition/Fee Refunds:
The amount of refund a student receives when withdrawing from a class is determined by Board policy. It is calculated based upon the percentage of days that the student was registered in the class. A student must actually withdraw from a class in order to be considered eligible for a refund of tuition and fees. Not attending a class does NOT constitute withdrawal and students will be charged for classes they have registered for but are not attending. Contact your advisor for further information.
Percent of Days Elapsed Refund
0.0% – 12.50% – 100% Refund of both Tuition and Fees
12.51% – 25.0% – 60% Refund Tuition Only
25.1% and above – NO Refund to Student
Example:
A student enrolls in a 3-credit hour class that is scheduled to meet from January 9 to May 5. The scheduled class time is therefore 116 days. If the student withdraws from this class on January 26, they will have been in the class 17 days, or 14.7% of the scheduled class time. In this example, the student would be refunded 60% of the tuition charged for the class. The student would forfeit 40% of the tuition and 100% of any fees charged for this class.
* Course Fees: Some classes assess additional fees. Actual fees charged are listed in the MPCC Course Catalog.
