North Platte Community College will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, at the North Campus Student Lounge.
Severe winter weather across much of the U.S. has affected the ability of the American Red Cross to collect blood donations. About 280 Red Cross blood drives were canceled in 25 states from Jan. 2-8, resulting in a shortfall of nearly 8,400 blood and platelet donations.
While the weather impacts blood donations, hospital patients still need transfusions. To help ensure blood is available for patients in need, blood donors of all types are needed.
Donors will receive a free t-shirt while supplies last. While scheduling an appointment is encouraged and appreciated, walk-ins are always welcome and needed.
