Undercover Résumés - Sending out résumés but getting no response? Have job application materials stored in the sock drawer that is in sad need of a revival? An online workshop entitled "Undercover Résumés" will begin Monday, Nov. 4 and provide participants one month of interactive consultation.
This opportunity is designed for participants preparing their first résumé, those who are frustrated with the job search, or who are making a career transition and need a new look for their job search materials. Personalized assistance will be provided to individuals by MPCC Career Specialist Berva Arensdorf in a work-from-home, online venue via MPCC's interactive Blackboard Learning Management System. Real Estate Sales & Brokerage - This introductory class examines listing and sales techniques, the personal relationships and obligations of brokers to their sales staff, along with the expenses incurred in operating a brokerage firm. Office budgeting, sales staff expense and professional responsibilities are explored in this class. The course is approved by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission (30 hours credit toward pre-license educational requirements). Class fee does not include the required textbook, which is available at the Center for Enterprise Office.
Class meets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 2-23, at the North Campus with instructor Barb Booth. Class fee is $199.
Facebook: Beyond the Basics – Get ready to dive into Facebook! This class is tailored toward those who already use Facebook, but want to really dig into its features. Learn more about photos and videos, creating interest groups, pages and events, and how to stay safe with advanced privacy settings. Get a quick glance at integrating Facebook with mobile phones, Twitter, and other online services from this class. Please pre-register.
Class meets from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, at the South Campus with instructor Sky Seery. Class fee is $19.
Intermediate Knitting - Take your knitting to the next level as you learn a variety of stitches that go well beyond the basics. Jolene will show you a Patchwork Stitch which combines Knit and Purl 2 together and Yarn Over. This intermediate level class will also include Slip, Slip Knit and Yarn Over patterns. You will build well beyond the basic scarf by adding patterns for a short-row scarf and a 3 color Spring Flowerbed Scarf. You will learn various cables as well as a throw which includes a bobble, cross-over and the trinity (popcorn) stitch.
Class meets from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. or from 7 to p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 28 through Dec. 2, at the South Campus with instructor Jolene Grant. Class fee is $35.
Beginning & Intermediate Bridge - This class has been designed for both beginners and those persons who are looking to improve their Bridge play. Bidding and strategy skills will be presented. By using two instructors, both beginners and more skilled Bridge players have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the great game of Bridge.
Class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 6 through Dec. 11, at the South Campus with instructor Randy Opitz. Class fee is $29.
