More than 90 high school students from nine high schools participated in the seventh annual Technical Skills contest Monday at North Platte Community College’s North Campus.
The event highlighted the technical programs that are available at NPCC and gave the students an opportunity to spend time with instructors and students at the college. Students from Brady, Maxwell, McPherson County, North Platte, Ogallala, Stapleton, Sutherland, Wallace and Wheatland, Kan., participated in the competition.
The students competed in “hands-on” testing in seven technical areas, including automotive mechanical technology, building construction, cabinet making, construction drafting, electrical technology, HVAC, and welding.
Following a morning of testing, the students were judged on their technical skills. The results are:
