The North Platte Community College Student Senate will host its annual soup cook-off and auction from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Quality Inn and Suites in North Platte.
Soup made by area businesses and organizations will be served at the event, along with a variety of delicious desserts. One-of-a-kind soup bowls, hand-crafted by students in NPCC Art Instructor Dik Haneline’s bowl making class, will be available to bid on in a silent auction. The auction will run until 7:30 p.m.
Contestants will have the chance to not only win the best soup title, but an award will go to the best booth as well. Admission is $5. Homemade desserts will also be available for $1 a plate.
“This is a great way for our students and others to give back the community,” said Josh York, Assistant Housing Director/Student Activities. “We encourage everyone to attend.”
