Top MCC students honored at 2023 Honors Convocation

McCook Community College Presidential Award recipient Cassidy Fife was recognized by Mid-Plains Community College President Ryan Purdy Monday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center along with Kaylee Guerrero, McCook, who was honored during Honors Convocation with the Vice President of Student Services Award by Kelly Rippen, and Dionte Perkins who received the Vice President of Instruction Award from Dr. Jody Tomanek.

 

Honorees included representatives from various college clubs and organizations and recipients of the following awards.

Cabinet Awards

Presidential Award – Cassidy Fife, Provo, Utah. The Presidential Award is presented to an outstanding student who has excelled in academics, leadership and service to the college and community.

Vice President of Student Services Award – Kaylee Guerrero, McCook. The recognition is bestowed upon an outstanding student leader who has demonstrated a commitment to co-curricular achievement.

Vice President of Instruction Award – Dionte Perkins, McCook. The award is given to an outstanding student who has excelled in the classroom and demonstrated a commitment to continued academic achievement.

Division Awards

Business and Technology – Jenicca Spencer, McCook; Dalton Kunkee, Lexington; Abagail Seybold, McCook.

Humanities and Social Science – Jackson Finder, Lincoln; Anna Miller, McCook; Abigail Jones, Cambridge.

Mathematics and Science Division – Brayden Dahl, Outer West Durban, South Africa; Sylvia Omboga, Mombasa, Kenya

Spirit Awards – Anna Miller, Hannah Willis, Jennifer Morgan, Jonatan Palafox, Julie Bogardus, Katie Wheeler, Lana Stewart, Sheri Hink-Wagner and Tamela Laurie.

Student Scholarships – Kaylee Guerrero, McCook, Ralph von Riesen Good Citizen Scholarship; Kelsie Vette, McCook, Estella LaRue Scholarship (Education major, transfer scholarship); Dionte Perkins, McCook, June and Alfred W. Kuper Transfer Scholarship.

Professional Achievement in Student Support Award – Brenda Ledall, Campus Administrator, Outreach. The award is given to an outstanding employee who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to student support and student retention.

Faculty Achievement in Student Success Award – Dr. Cassandra Pfeifer, English instructor. The award is presented to an outstanding faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to student success and student retention.
