Sky Seery, of North Platte, donates blood at an American Red Cross blood drive Thursday afternoon at North Platte Community College. Collections at the event surpassed expectations.

“Yesterday was an amazing day on south campus,” said Amanda Wehnes, Red Cross spokeswoman. “The goal was to collect 14 units of blood, and thanks to the selflessness and generosity of the staff, students and community, we were able to collect 20 units of blood. That has the potential to help up to 60 patients heading into this holiday season.”

The next blood drive is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the concessions area of the McDonald-Belton Building on the NPCC South Campus. Appointments can be made at: redcrossblood.org.
