NPCC Learning Commons conducts book drive

Book Drive
Wednesday, April 7, 2021

North Platte Community College students Sophia Kiss, of Victoria, British Columbia, and Morganne Brown, of Milliken, Colo., place books into a bin Wednesday as part of the NPCC Learning Commons book drive.

North Platte Community College's Learning Commons is honoring National Library Week by hosting a book drive.

April 4-10 has been designated as a time to celebrate the nation's libraries and contributions of library workers and to promote library use and support.

Collection boxes went up this week in the Learning Commons, located on the NPCC South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd. The drive will continue through the end of the month when all donations will be turned over to the North Platte Public Library.

"We're promoting it as a spring-cleaning event," said Regina Hanson, NPCC afternoon library assistant. "Instead of throwing away old books, we're asking people to donate them to a good cause."

All new or used books in good condition will be accepted. Hanson said the library is especially interested in fiction, cookbooks, gardening and historical books.
