Spring schedule announced for MCC’s Wrightstone Gallery

McCook Community College’s Wrightstone Fine Arts gallery will be the site of four exhibitions this spring including three from art students and one from MCC’s Graphic Design and Visual Communication students. These exhibits include works from both high school and college students.

MCC Art Instructor Rick Johnson has announced that from March 18-29, MCC will feature the works of McCook High School students in the MHS Showcase. A gallery reception is set for March 21 from 4-p.m. in the Wrightstone Gallery.

The annual High School Art Exhibition and Paint-In is set for April 1-12. The works of area high school students will be showcased in the Wrightstone Fine Arts Gallery starting April 1.

The paint-in competition is Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. After a rules meeting at 9 a.m. the paint in starts at 9:15 a.m. with teams of high school students competing murals by noon with the awards ceremony for the exhibition works and the paint-in competition starting at 1 p.m.

The judge for this year’s event will be Hana Brock, a 2020 MCC graduate from the Fine Arts program. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and plans to persue her master’s degree in fine arts.

MCC’s AFA Showcase for students in the Fine Arts Program will be April 22-May 3. A reception for the students is set for April 26 from 4-8 p.m. in the Wrightstone Gallery. For North Platte students their oral defense will be May 2 on South Campus from 1-4 p.m. with the MCC oral defense May 3 in the Wrightstone Gallery from 1-4 p.m.

MCC’s Graphic Design and Visual Communication Portfolio Exhibit is set for May 6-10.
