Augustiro, Higa and Lunn shine at Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede

Spearfish, S.D. – The No. 2 Mid-Plains Community College men’s rodeo team rode to a first-place finish at the Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede last Saturday.
The men’s team totaled 1355 points behind first place finishes from Jackson Lunn (bareback), Eli Higa and Kahiwa Augustiro (team roping) and Higa (bull riding) to remain one of the top three teams in the country.
When the dust all settled, Augustiro had also notched a second-place finish in bareback and a third-place finish in steer wrestling to claim the all-around title.
Koy McAllister wrapped up the rodeo with a second-place finish in saddle bronc, a fifth-place finish in steer wrestling and a third-place finish in the team roping event alongside partner Emma Ohm of Black Hills State. For his efforts in the arena, McAllister was named the reserve all-around champion.
On the women’s side, Laynee Ohm posted a tenth-place finish in goat tying, while Laysha Cottrell and Ohm posted a sixth-place finish in the team roping category.
The MPCC Rodeo Team will wrap up their regular season with the Cornhusker Stampede in Lincoln May 2-3.
