Men’s rodeo team second at Mystic Stampede

Mandan, N.D. – The Mid-Plains Community College rodeo teams headed north last weekend to compete in the Mystic Stampede, hosted by Bismarck State College.
The MPCC men’s team entered the event ranked second in the nation and secured a strong finish, earning 675 points to place second behind Bismarck State. The women’s team scored 70 points over the two-day event, placing seventh overall in the team standings.
Kahiwa Augustiro stepped into the chute and would leave the arena as the top bareback rider. His teammate Jackson Lunn wasn’t far behind, finishing second and giving MPCC a one-two punch in the event.
Koy McAllister entered the weekend ranked second in the Great Plains Region in the saddle bronc event. The sophomore earned 90 points to finish third behind Tayson Jones (Dickinson State) and Jadon Skavdahl (University of Nebraska).
Matt Miller continued his climb up the regional leaderboard with a second-place finish in tie-down roping. On the women’s side, Laynee Ohm added a fourth-place finish in goat tying.
The MPCC rodeo teams will wrap up the fall season Oct. 10-11 at the Iowa Central Community College rodeo in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
