Isaiah Estrada has been selected as North Platte Community College’s Business Student of the Month for October.

Estrada chose to attend NPCC because it was affordable, flexible with his schedule and located in his hometown of North Platte.

“Accounting has had the greatest impact on my life. We were taught that accounting is the language of business and after taking that course I'm realizing that I am more able to follow conversations pertaining to business matters both in my personal and professional life,” Estrada said of his experience.

Business instructor Lynn Lupomech nominated Estrada for the Student of the Month recognition.

“Despite a demanding schedule, Isaiah remains fully committed and engaged in his coursework. He is intelligent, considerate and personable. While attending classes on campus, he went out of his way to help classmates, offering encouragement and support, while also leading through his active participation. Isaiah’s dedication, character, and leadership make him an outstanding role model and a truly deserving Business Student of the Month.”

Estrada is studying business accounting  at NPCC. He’s on track to graduate in December of 2025.

“My advice to anyone pursuing their degree is to not compare yourselves to others because comparison is the thief of joy. I dropped out of two other degree programs and was trying out a variety of careers before I figured out that I wanted a Business Accounting associate's degree. Keep your nose to the grindstone and do not give up,” Estrada shared.

When not in class, Estrada enjoys spending time with his wife Sydnee and their two children.

After graduating Estrada plans to continue his education to pursue a bachelor's degree. He also started a career with the North Platte Police Department and hopes to become a certified police officer.

“This nomination truly is an honor,” Estrada said.
