Whitney Jennings of Seneca, Neb., has been selected as Mid-Plains Community College’s Business Student of the Month for November.

Although she initially planned to attend college out of state, a tour of MPCC quickly changed her mind.

“I realized how much opportunity was right here at home. The small class sizes, supportive instructors and rodeo program made MPCC the perfect fit for both my academic and rodeo goals,” Jennings said.

Jennings is studying Agri-Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership and is a member of the MPCC Rodeo Team. She was nominated for the honor by MPCC Business Instructor Jean Condon.

“Whitney shows an amazing commitment to her education, team members and her college experience. Along with her success in the classroom she is hard-working, a great communicator, has a strong work ethic and tremendous leadership skills as she interacts with other students,” said Condon.

Although Jennings is uncertain where her future will take her, she plans to find ways to grow and make a difference in the western industry.

“I was inspired to pursue a business degree because I wanted to understand how to turn my passion for agriculture and horses into a successful career,” Jennings said. “I’ve always known I wanted to own my own business someday, and studying business gives me the tools to manage finances, communicate effectively, and make confident decisions.”

Jennings is on track to graduate the spring of 2026.

“I am very thankful for the people and opportunities I’ve had here at MPCC. Between the business program and the rodeo team, I’ve grown both personally and professionally and learned lessons I’ll carry for life,” Jennings said. “I’m proud to represent the college and thankful for the instructors who go out of their way to help students succeed.”
