MPCC Rodeo Opens Season with Strong Showing at UW-River Falls

The Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team got its 2026-27 season off to a strong start this past weekend, earning multiple individual honors and top team finishes at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association rodeo hosted by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
The MPCC men’s team placed second overall with 660 total points while the MPCC women’s team finished fourth with 80 points.
Under the leadership of three-time consecutive Great Plains Region Coach of the Year Aukai Kaai, nine MPCC athletes earned honors over the weekend.
Leading the way was Kahiwa Augustiro, who captured the Men’s All-Around title and Bull Riding championship. Augustiro also placed third in Bareback Riding.
Talon Krolikowski finished fourth in the Men’s All-Around standings and earned a second-place finish in Saddle Bronc Riding. Wyatt Davis added a runner-up finish in Bull Riding.
MPCC also earned strong finishes in team roping, with Evan Richter and Colton Kehano placing third and Bailey Sproat and Aiden Augustiro finishing fourth.

The MPCC Rodeo Team will return to action this week as it hosts the Stampede in Sutherland, Sept. 17-19.
The first performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, followed by slack - the overflow of events from the main rodeo. On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, slack will begin at 9 a.m., with the main performances beginning at 7 p.m. each evening.
