Mallory Haskin has been selected as North Platte Community College’s Business Student of the Month for October.

Haskin, of McCook, Nebr., chose Mid-Plains because of the convenient online options.

“I chose to pursue a business degree because I wanted a stronger foundation for the future. Working in my current office made me notice how much I enjoyed the business and accounting world, and earning this degree is helping me create long term stability,” Haskin said.

Business instructor Lynn Lupomech nominated Haskin for the Student of the Month recognition.

“Mallory is an excellent online student. She is motivated, responsible and independent. She also does a great job communicating by regularly checking and responding to emails and actively participating in discussions. She is hardworking and engaged, making her a great choice for October Business Student of the Month.”

Haskin is studying business with an emphasis in accounting  and is on track to graduate in May of 2028.

“My advice would be stay consistent, stay curious and remember it is never too late to educate yourself,” Haskin shared.

After graduating Haskin plans to keep growing in the business and accounting field while building a solid career that will support her family and future.

“The honor means a lot to me because it recognizes the work that I have been putting into balance school, work and my family while still pushing myself to grow. It reminds me all the effort put in is worth it and motivates me to push that much harder,” Haskin said.
